Any of the Guerrilla Marketing books by Jay Conrad Levinson are excellent. All are inexpensive and full of timeless strategies to get the most for your marketing dollar.
Also find a copy of Raleigh Pinskey's "101 Ways to Promote Yourself." It's a fat little $5 paperback packed with great ideas and tips.
Few promotional opportunities match being a guest on talk radio shows. There are hundreds and hundreds of stations needing guests every day of the year and it's all free publicity for businesses like yours. Joe Shafran, one of America's top talk show booking agents, has written an excellent short guide to getting on talk shows "Let There Be Talk." See his web site at www.PR4U.com/
For promoting on the Internet, it's hard to beat the "In a Weekend" series. "Increase Your Web Traffic in a Weekend," "Jazz Up Your Web Site in a Weekend," and "Design Your First Web Site in a Weekend."

Also check your local library for Dr. Jeffrey Lant's books. My favorites are "The Unabashed Self-Promoter's Guide," "Money Making Marketing," and "Cash Copy."
For advice on how to write good copy and market your service, see any of the many good books by Robert W. Bly. "Selling Your Services" and "The Copywriter's Handbook" are his best known.
