Dr. Kevin Nunley's Biz Tip:
Produce Your Own Info Cassettes
If you've been through the music section of any store lately, you
know the cassette is slowly going the way of the dinosaur. The music
industry has steadily moved toward lower cost, more profitable Cds.
The information cassette is still going strong. Most info consumers
are over 35 and are slower to give up their home and auto cassette
decks (I still have LPs !).
Offer your book, booklet, series of reports, sales and pricing info
on cassette. For small orders, simply get cheap Type I cassettes from
your local department store.
You can get big orders of custom length cassettes from a supplier in
your town (check the yellow pages for Audio-Video Production
Services). These often cost as little as a quarter a piece.
Keep production simple. Your enthusiastic voice is fancy enough for
most customers. Remember that people can't see you, so you have to
add extra energy to your voice. Profit margins are higher than with
printed material.
