Dr. Kevin Nunley's Biz Tip:
Email Press Releases
Email is a great way to send your press release to media. Everybody
in media--from radio to TV to trade publications--uses email.
Email is almost free and editors tend to read their email long before
they open the bags of mail that arrive each day.
"Is sending an unsolicited email press release to an editor
spamming?" Most editors don't ink so. They realize the media's
job is to give each and every citizen a chance to at least be considered.
Most publications rely heavily on press releases to fill their pages
and air time. I've seen major newspapers print my press releases
word-for-word as an article.
You can email your release yourself. Get a good list of addresses at
WorkShopInc.com. I like to use low-cost sending services like
USANews.net, NewsBureau.com, and XpressPress.com. Gapent.com is
especially good for sending releases to media outside North America.
