Dr. Kevin Nunley's Biz Tip:
Website Hot Spot
People who do a lot of selling with websites have noticed that where
you put something on a page has a lot to do with how much attention
it gets. This sort of thing has been studied a lot for newspapers.
Anything printed "above the fold" gets read far more than
stories printed below the fold.
Things displayed at the top of your opening website page get more
attention than anything else on your site.
If you have a very important report you want people to see, put the
link near the top of your page. Include some sizzling descriptive
text to tout what your reader will get if they click.
More and more banner co-ops are asking you to put their banner at the
top of your page. They know this is prime Internet real estate. You
can do what you want, but I strongly advise saving that space for
something that advertises YOU.
After the top of the page, people tend to gravitate toward the sides.
That is why many sites have menu strips on the left, right, or both
sides of every page.
