Market With Email
Email is the hottest thing to come to marketing in years. Now that
over half of all North Americans are using email, you can reach
thousands of prospective customers with the click of a key. The cost
is almost free.
BUT, before you fire off your latest sales letter to a long list of
addresses, make sure everyone on your list WANTS to be there.
Unsolicited email, or "spam," is forbidden by online custom
and against the law in some states. Send out even a single spammed
message and you will get kicked off your Internet service and flooded
with hate mail.
Perhaps more important for the marketer, unsolicited email gets very
poor results. Most people simply ignore it. You can send your message
to one million people and get zero response.
Fortunately, there are fine companies who compile lists of people who
have asked for email on particular subjects. These "opt-in"
