Following are some important questions to ask yourself if you're an Internet Marketer or considering becoming one:
- What's in a Name?
Consider carefully the following information before you choose a Domain Name. Is the name you choose for your website URL important?
- business.com sold for $7.5 million
- assenontv.com, $5 million
- altavista.com, $3.3 million
- loans.com, $3 million
- autos.com, $2.2 million
- wallstreet.com, $1.03 million
- forsalebyowner.com, $835,000
- drugs.com, $823,456
- cinema.com, $700,00
- art.com, $450,000
- engineering.org, $198,895'
- fruits.com, $160,000
- and perfect.com, $94,000.
Obviously, Name is very important.
- How much traffic is there?
From ITFacts.biz: "A total of 4.7 million new domain names were registered in Q1 2004, bringing the total to a record of 63 million. That's a 21% increase in registered domain names compared to a year ago and a 5% rise over Q4 2003, according to VeriSign domain-name report."
- Does everybody hate pop-up/pop-under windows?
I know I do. And so do most people I talk with. But, if most people dislike them so much, why do they work? Reports I've read say they work and work well. And, I have to admit, I agree with the reports because they sure work for me.
I guess they'll go away when people quit responding to them. In the meantime, they work.
Here’s a free pop-under script you can use for your web pages. Be careful not to over-do it! There's nothing worse than entering or leaving a website that has continuous, annoying pop-ups and pop-unders!
Place the following Script between the <head></head> portion of your web page.
Place the link of the web page you want to "pop-under" in the space indicated.
Do Not change anything else within the script.
<script language="JavaScript">
var popunder="http://www.Pop-Under-URL.com"
function loadpopunder(){
win2=window.open(popunder)
win2.blur()
window.focus()
}
loadpopunder()
</script>
- Are keywords important?
Very important. Go to Google.com or Mamma.com and type in a keyword on any topic. One of mine would be "home business opportunities".
Studies show that only 23% of searchers will go to the second page of listings. More than 80% of website traffic comes from Search Engines. Relevent keywords and page content are essential to gaining traffic to your website.
- I've heard the meta tags are no longer important. Should I include them in my web page head?
Definitely! I've heard the same thing. What I would like to know, is if that's the case, then why is Google using my <meta name="description">? Always include your page title and keyword and description meta tags!

<meta name="description" content="Describe your web page using your top keywords">
<meta name="keywords" content="Start with your top keywords according to their density within your page.">
- How can I get traffic to my website?
It remains the same – you can “push” with ads and PPC, CPC (PayPerClick, CostPerClick), or you can “pull” with marketing strategies such as eZines, writing articles, getting syndicated, or serving as “Ask the Expert.” If you don’t like to write, you can hire an article-writing service. This often works better because the writer’s name is established on the Internet, and is a draw to publishers, your name wouldn’t be.
- Should I be taking advantage of the exchange rate and time zones?
If you're considering hiring someone to optimize and create your website, definitely consider the rates and exchanges.
I received an email from a person in India who is computer proficient and can speak and type in the English language. He offered to do virtual assistant work for $6 / hour U.S. Do you know how much it would cost to hire a virtual assistant in the United States? Anywhere from $30 - ?? / hour! I didn't require his services because I do my own website promotion and creation. But someone who doesn't could benefit in a big way.
Never give up!
